Abstract :
Task Force 14-1 was formed within the Insulated Conductors Committee (ICC) to investigate the appropriateness of the guidance presented in IEEE standards addressing design and installation of cable systems in power stations, in light of recent testing by installation contractors and cable manufacturers, as well as comments by various members. A survey questionnaire was circulated to all of the ICC to determine areas in which either current practice differs from the IEEE standards of differing opinions exists in aspects of cable installation not currently covered. Survey results highlighted a need for investigation and recommendation on specific cable installation practices. Additional data were gathered from cable manufacturers, utilities, and engineering firms. Recommendations and information obtained by the committee are presented
