Abstract :
A power system consisting of two control areas is simulated in this paper. The two areas are interconnected via two parallel ac tie lines and as an alternative, the Interconnection via an ac line and a parallel dc link is examined. The two system configurations are subjected to the same disturbances and faults and their responses are compared and assessed with regard to system stability.
