Abstract
Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) is the latest digital trunking communication standard developed by European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). In this standard, the modulation waveform of 4CPFSK is used to enhance the spectrum efficiency. While the conventional symbol by symbol detection shows relatively poor performance for these signals, the multiple symbol detection algorithm proposed in this paper makes full use of the memory information among symbols, which significantly improves the detection performance. It is shown by simulation that multiple symbol detection with observation window of 5 symbols has about 2.7dB gain compared with the differential demodulation at 10-4.
