Abstract :
This paper proposes the design of a low-cost DSP-based powerline modem for domotic control that adjusts to the European regulation CENELEC EN50065. This modem fills the void between current very low bit rate chipsets with FSK modulation, and future PLC (powerline communications) broadband developments, oriented towards Internet access and based on ETSI TS 101 867. The prototype runs a PHY powerline layer with a half duplex π/4-DQPSK modulation. It also takes advantage of the remaining DSP capacity by implementing a UDP/IP stack and SNMP protocol, therefore offering a new perspective for the use of this protocol in domotic home networking.
