Abstract
Graphical modelling and simulation environments can increasingly support an end-to-end tool flow for developing control systems. Simulink is used to both model systems and then produce code for prototype hardware, in some cases going further by using tools to generate software suitable for the production system. Automatic code generation (ACG) greatly improves the reliability and speed of the coding process. Model-based development environments clearly provide a way to expedite the design of complex or high-fidelity embedded control systems. These tools continue to evolve with the impetus for shorter design cycles, greater levels of flexibility and lower costs
