Abstract
In this paper a new ac variable speed motor system driven by the pulse-amplitude-modulated (PAM) current source inverter is introduced, which is specially fitted for the large capacity application. The performance of this system is investigated comparing the case of using other types of inverters. In the recommended system, choppers are provided on all arms to control the inverter output current amplitude using the on-off time ratio control.
