Abstract :
An electrochemical corrosion study of high moment, magnetically soft FeXN (X=metal) thin film head materials is presented. Potentiodynamic anodic polarization in aqueous 0.5M NaCl and 0.25M Na 2SO4 solutions is studied for qualitative and quantitative measures of corrosion characteristics. The effect of annealing, composition, and a comparison with Permalloy and Fe thin films are also presented. A drastic improvement in corrosion characteristics result in the samples made with N2 flow rate >10 sccm
