Abstract :
Mutual coupling between the individual antennas of a direction-finding system causes an asymmetry in their respective field patterns which prevents complete cancellation of radiation in the direction of the "null." Instead, it produces a radiation minimum combined with an error in direction. By a suitable arrangement of parasitic antennas the original symmetry can be restored and a correct and true null can be obtained.
