Abstract :
This book is a major revision of the first edition, published in 1969. Much has happened since then and Martin,as usual, does an excellent job on reporting these new developments with clarity and enthusiasm. This is not a book for specialists but it contains, in one place, so much useful typical experience data that the telecommunication systems designer will want to havae copy on his shelf. The treatment is never deep or exhaustive, but there is good balance and sufficient detail to whet the appetite for further study.
