Abstract :
Event-related potential (ERP)-based P300 spellers are commonly used in the domain of brain-computer interfaces as a communication pathway for the impaired. In this paper, we propose a novel stimulus representation pattern for the P300-based visual speller. In contrast to the classical matrix speller, in this new approach users see a unique combination of letters in each stimulus during a given sequence. Our results indicate that this change increases information transfer rates (ITR) for all four considered subjects.
