Abstract
This paper presents the performance comparison of synchronous single-ended primary-inductor converter (SEPIC) and synchronous ZETA focusing on the converter efficiency and the output waveform quality. The conventional SEPIC and ZETA converters operated in Buck and Boost modes were modified to the synchronous SEPIC and synchronous ZETA converters to improve the converter efficiency. The operating conditions were setup where the duty cycle was operated from 0.3 to 0.7 for covering buck-boost modes at the continuous current mode. Two switching frequencies at 20 kHz and 40 kHz were operated to compare the effect of switching loss and conduction loss where the efficiency was concerned. Finally, the converter efficiency and the ripple factor of the output voltage were concluded.
