Abstract :
An efficient algorithm is presented for determining radiation modes of lossless multilayer dielectric optical waveguides. The determined radiation modes are normalized, mutually orthogonal, and complete. As an example, it is applied in the present work to project a reference field profile into the guided and radiation modes a set of three chosen representative structures; the reference field is perfectly reconstructed after projection
