About the authors

Norman R. Augustine (M) is a vice president of the Martin Marietta Corp., Denver, Colo., and president of Denver Aerospace. His Government career began at the Department of Defense in 1965, and in 1975 he was appointed under secretary of the U.S. Army. Mr. Augustine is currently president of the Association of the United States Army and chairman of the secretary of defense´s senior advisory group, the Defense Science Board.
