Abstract
Regeneration through Kerr fibre phase modulation is proposed and applied for the first time to wavelength-multiplexed soliton signals. Periodic regeneration by Kerr fibre modulators without the use of guiding filters and dispersion management is shown to increase the error-free distance in 2×20 Gbit/s WDM soliton transmission up to 3500 km
