Abstract :
A new class of permanent-magnet structures generate uniform magnetic fields inside a closed cavity. The key components of the structures are pairs of magnetized wedges. The structures are notable both for their simplicity and efficiency, and some are particularly suitable for producing strong fields. For example, if Nd-Fe-B is used for the magnetic material, fields of 1.0 to 2.0 T can be attained
