Abstract :
A high numerical aperture solid immersion lens (SIL MO) magneto-optical recording system based on supersphere SIL approach is described. Effects of SIL on the recording performance of the magneto-optical system are analyzed. It is found that effective numerical aperture as high as 1.46 can be achieved using a contact SIL operation mode and evanescent coupling optimized TbFeCo recording media. A novel quadrilayer media design with CNR value of 50 dB is proposed
