Abstract :
On 8 December 2009, Emilio Gatti and I celebrated the 50 years of scientific
cooperation and a very nice friendship. Everything began when I was a student
of physics at the University of Rome. At the beginning of 1959, I was working
on a coincidence spectrometer for nuclear physics, the subject of my thesis.
It became clear to me that I would have never been a good physicist
without a sound background in instrumentation techniques. I had read a couple
of Prof. Gattis papers, and they convinced me that the best school to approach
the instrumentation techniques would be Prof. Gatti´s</
