Abstract
Modeling of hydro plants in which multiple units share a common conduit was examined and a model was derived for simulation of such plants including cases where units of different size are present. The nature of the plant response is examined through simulations to explain the relationships of the physical parameters. Turbine/governor parameter settings and their relation to hydraulic coupling effects is discussed. The effects of parameter settings on plant stability under island or black start conditions is discussed and demonstrated via simulations
