Abstract :
Spectral linewidth broadening in Er-doped-fibre amplifiers is measured by utilising a delayed self-heterodyne interferometer with 1.4 kHz resolution in the 1550 nm range. Though the noise floor is broadened, no broadening is observed at the 3 dB down point.
