Abstract :
A new method for improving the resolution capability of a sensor array is presented. The basic idea of the proposed approach is to increase the effective aperture size by virtually expanding the sensor spacing of the original antenna array and then to construct the steering matrix of the virtual array using the proper transformation matrix. Superior resolution capabilities achieved with this method in comparison with the standard MUSIC algorithm are shown by simulation results for narrowband incoherent signals incident on a uniform circular array
