Abstract :
The first part of a work-in-progress report, that addresses the topic of nuclear plant motor maintenance. Considering operating experience to be a major factor of a maintenance program, the task group reviewed published assessments of nuclear and nonnuclear motor operating experience and reliability data. The task group also surveyed existing motor maintenance practices and procedures (i.e. industry standards, utility procedures and manufacturer instructions). The task group suggests good practices for continuous and periodic preventive maintenance of motors are recommended that take into account the most frequent causes of motor failures
