Abstract
This paper presents the analysis of an arrangement with the load upstream of the plasma opening switch. For a linear increasing switch resistance in the current interruption phase, the analytical expressions for determination of the load pulse parameters are developed. Descriptions of two designs of the load connection upstream of the switch are given, and the obtained experimental results are presented. A comparison between experimental and calculation results are also given for an ideally operating switch which opens with constant resistance rise rate determined from experimentally obtained resistance time history at switch opening.
