Abstract
In a recent letter, Lichte et al. proposed a closed-form approximation of the expected aggregate interference caused by a random network of interferers. Modeling the positions of the latter by a Poisson point process with density λ and assuming a guard disc of radius g around the receiver, the authors derived the expected interference as 2λπ P/((α-2)gα-2) where α is the path loss exponent and P is the transmit power of each interferer. In this letter, we demonstrate that this result can be obtained by applying the well-known Campbell´s theorem in a straight-forward manner. We also point out that the Laplace transform of the aggregate interference is well known in the literature, and hence moments of the interference can be easily obtained from existing results.
