Abstract :
Range estimation based solely upon the received signal power measurements is possible for a specific set of conditions. Ordinarily the solution to this problem is not possible when the power of the signal at the source and the closing velocity are unknown. However, if the receiving platform modifies its velocity while sampling, the problem can be formulated with independent equations and solved. A time-to-intercept estimator based upon the sample principles is also presented
