Abstract :
Rate 1/2 180 degrees phase-invariant convolutional coding and unquantised maximum-likelihood Viterbi decoding with differentially-encoded coherent QPSK (DE-QPSK) for band-limited additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channels are considered. The simulated bit error probability performance of the trellis-coded modulation is presented for four- and eight-state convolutional codes of constraint lengths three and four, respectively.
