  • Abstract
Research and development into producing electrically operated limb prostheses (arms, legs, knees, elbows, etc.) for amputees and disabled persons is accelerating, with some prostheses now becoming available for use, albeit on an experimental basis. Together with the recent availability of control stations containing pseudoarms for use by the totally or nearly totally disabled, such as paraplegics and quadriplegics, such devices illustrate the extent of electronics´ role in improving the disabled or handicapped person´s way in life.
