Abstract :
The intensity and phase distributions of TEM00 as well as higher-order Gaussian laser beams are illustrated with contour maps. Sufficient mathematical formulation leading to these plots is given. The locations and values of intensity extrema are given for lower-order Hermite- and Laguerre-Gaussian modes
