Abstract :
This paper presents a study constructed by a team from Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, with the aim of developing a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) generating unit in the location of the Didactical and Touristical Base Marisel, where there is under construction a building with didactical and accommodation spaces. The builing has 30 rooms and 4 apartments, conference rooms for 120 persons and restaurant room for 100 persons. The designed heating system has been projected with of two heating units of 291 kWth each based on GPL burner. Within this study we propose a cogeneration heating system compound from four units based on the gasification wood biomass and a Stirling engine of 35 kWel and 140kWth each. This solution is recommended by the fact that the Didactical and Touristic Base Marisel is located in a mountain region with many forest all around. The electrical power generated by the cogeneration system 4×35 kW=140 kWel will be used to cover the base power of the load curve and some 450 kWth total absorbed thermal power to ensure the required heating of the building, calculated in the design stage.
