Abstract :
In wavelet applications, it is often required that the associated scaling function has advantages such as compact support, orthogonality, linear phase, regularity and interpolation. In the two- and three-band cases, these advantages are incompatible. A novel approach is proposed for designing five-band scaling functions that simultaneously provide the above five advantages, and several interesting examples are presented
