Abstract :
A novel multiband loaded fractal loop monopole antenna using a Minkowski model is proposed. It is composed of a short monopole with a loaded fractal loop. The loaded fractal loop parameters are optimised starting from the Minkowski fractal model. The resulting antenna has a compact size of 10 × 45 × 0.8×mm3, which is suitable for USB dongle applications. From the measured results, the 10 dB return loss bandwidths of the proposed antenna cover the WiFi (2.4-2.484 and 5.15-5.35-GHz) and WiMAX (2.5-2.7 and 3.4-3.6-GHz) bands.
