Abstract :
To support the seamless upgrading of current cellular networks and to fulfil the requirements of third generation systems, an optimised base-station location algorithm, referred to as the combination algorithm for total-optimisation (CAT), is presented. Results show that the CAT approach is well suited to constrained optimisation, providing results that are equal to, and often better than, those obtained using more established methods such as the genetic algorithm
