This issue starts with a comprehensive article by Carty and Yeow, “In It to WIN It,” that details the activities and plans of the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology. This institute is a recently created research and education center at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, to provide advanced research opportunities and training programs for highly qualified undergraduate and graduate students, and collaborative partnerships with key academic and industrial players.
