Abstract :
Who´s worried about productivity? We all should be, if we´re to believe IEEE Fellows J. Fred Bucy (p. 45), Jacob Rabinow (p. 48), and Jordan Baruch (p. 47). These three men operate in vastly different environments with equally diverse concerns. Dr. Bucy, as president of Texas Instruments, is a ¿captain of industry¿ Dr. Rabinow, chief research engineer at the National Engineering Laboratory for the U.S. National Bureau of Standards, is one of the great, independent inventors; Dr. Baruch, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Science and Technology, has much to do with the development of governmental technology policy. But all three agree that the future of innovation is in peril.
