Abstract :
The province of the engineer is to utilize materials and physical principles for the benefit of the community, in distinction from the statesman or the educator who have to do with men, or the philosopher, who deals with ideas. By this I do not mean that the engineer does not deal with men nor understand and appreciate great ideas, for the high class engineer must do both, but that the engineer´s chief concern and ultimate purpose is the combination and control of material things for the use of the community. An electrical engineer thus deals with those engineering works that center primarily in the use of electricity.
