Abstract :
This paper describes the impacts of penetration of several small scale wind generators on the distribution power network. Two wind generator technologies, namely, Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG), and Converter Driven Synchronous Generator (CDSG) are considered. The main focus is to study the impacts of increasing the penetration of small scale distributed generators (wind generators) on the voltage under steady-state and fault conditions. The investigation was carried out using DigSilent Power Factory software package. The simulation results show that under fault condition, DFIG, and CDSG have positive impacts on the stability of the system, albeit the performance of CDSG is slightly better.
