Abstract
The events at Reactor Unit 2 on Three Mile Island have had a profound impact on Japan, where a firm commitment to nuclear power makes that nation second only to the United States in the use of nuclear energy. From the earliest hours of the Three Mile Island accident, the Japanese Government and utilities have been deeply involved in seeking to apply the lessons learned.
