Abstract :
Laser beam profile shaping is examined for magneto-optical recording. Model results indicate that the use of a flat-top beam profile reduces the amount of thermal intersymbol interference. It also offers the possibility of improved domain boundary regularity due to increased temperature gradients at the recording isotherm
