Abstract :
Computer-based interactive multimedia technology is providing an exciting new environment for training. This article describes a development of this innovative technology by Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway Corporation. Summarising the success and lessons learnt from the experience, the article reviews the system design concepts used and discusses the advantages and limitations of this technology. Concluding remarks focus on the future where the article explores the potential use of multimedia in the real-time operation of the railway.
