Abstract :
The verdict returned in the case of Brooktree Corp. vs. Advanced Micro Devices Inc., the first case decided under the Semiconductor Chip Protection Act (SCPA) of 1984, is discussed. The issues in the case and the implications of the decision with respect to the interpretation of SCPA are examined. The role of expert testimony is considered. Factors that could cause the appellate court to overturn the verdict are discussed
