Abstract :
Liner electro-optic (EO) constants r 13 and r 33, have been investigated in 30BaO-20TiO2-50SiO2 glass ceramics with oriented crystalline layers using a Mach-Zehnder interferometer at 0.633 m wavelength. The EO constants have been measured at 10-1000 Hz frequency of the applied voltage, and typical values of r 13 and r 33 at 100 Hz are 3.15 ?? 0.04 and 1.00 ?? 0.02 pm/V, respectively. It has been found that these values are approximately 58-64% in r 13 and 59% in r 33 compared with those in fresnoite single crystals.
