Abstract :
The paper describes experiments, carried out between 1928 and 1936 by Guglielmo Marconi, which demonstrated that transmission beyond the horizon by means of microwaves was practicable. Further more the influence of tropospheric mechanisms on radio-wave propagation was recognized by him at the time.
