Abstract :
The Society continues toperate in 1989 with its usual dedication to the proposition that providing service to the membership 1s its highest priority charge. Our popular Newsletter will become a magazine in 1990, having passed all the necessary hurdles internal to the IEEE. The Transactions are so much in demand that we have had to address the problem of a considerable backlog in papers waiting to be published, and an inordinately long time interval between submission and actual appearance in print. The 1990 Society budget contains a once-only request for publication of 2000 Transaction pages, instead of the former 1750. There will also be a change in the breakpoint between volunteer and mandatory over-length charges from 7 pages to 6, and this is believed to be another step toward resolution of problems associated with the size and cost of Society publications. The Newsletter/Magazine is expandimg its advertising activities, thus making its own contribution to the Society´s financial position.
