Abstract :
The junction transistor used as a switch has properties which are not only unique but which are more reliable and consistent than most of its linear circuit parameters. The paper describes some circuits which make use of these properties, mostly in conjunction with saturable magnetic cores having a rectangular B/H characteristic. Examples are given of how they have been employed to perform a variety of operations, including frequency modulation and demodulation, d.c. amplification, power conversion and demultiplexing time-multiplexed signals in a communication system.
