Abstract :
Information and communications technologies (ICT) infrastructure is very important to support the economic development of a country. More specifically, wide-area communication infrastructure, such as remotely controlled manufacturing or distribution plants systems as well as datacommunication-based commerce, is a critical requirement for technology growth. In many regions, such as Indonesia, data communication services and infrastructures are still mainly concentrated and localized in urban areas, but to bring economic and technological growth to rural areas, such infrastructure should support local industrial plants and systems (not to mention the cost savings in resources both in wages and materials).
