Abstract :
There have been several developments in lamp technology and remote lighting systems that promise savings in electrical power consumption and improved quality of the lighting space. This article reviews the developments in fluorescent lamps, metal halide lamps, electrodeless lamps, sulphur lamps, LED lamps, electronic ballasts, and lighting fixtures. Remote lighting systems using hollow light-guides, solid light-guides and reflector based systems are described
