Abstract :
A hybrid method for image compression based on the fractal geometry concept is presented. By combining the scanline subtraction and prediction mechanism with the yardstick-based compression method, higher compression rate can be achieved with good image quality. Furthermore, the performance of the algorithm is improved through error compensation.
