  • Abstract
The paper is concerned with the six metric systems of electrical units in common use. The equations of each system differ by constants involving 4 ¿ and (approximately) 3 × 1010. Although this is well understood and accepted, difficulties sometimes arise when a comparison is made between the units or quantities of different systems. The paper endeavours to show that these difficulties are largely semantic, and that they can be overcome with `transitional electrical units¿ by converting a given unit into its transitional counterpart, and thence into the unit of the desired system.
