Abstract :
I agree with Raymond E. Floyd (“The way I see it: Lecturers versus research professors,” IEEE Potentials, November/ December 2010) that the idea of learning under a research professor is amazing. It seems as though you´ll be contributing to the field as his/her underling before you even graduate. Oftentimes the more prestigious school are the universities where professors are advancing the field. However, the reality of being an undergraduate at a research school might not entail all the experiences it appears to offer. Undergrads are taught a professor-approved lesson by the graduate students and have little to no contact with the actual professor or his/her research.
