Abstract :
The theory of natural modes is adapted to provide a straightforward means of computing the fundamental-loss characteristics of multiconductor transmission lines when influenced by a uniform covering of ice on one or more conductors. Moreover, application of the method is usefully demonstrated by presenting the results of a computer study showing the effects of ice on the loss characteristics of intrabundle and conventional power-line carrier schemes of communication. In both cases three different bundle types are considered.
