Abstract :
A microelectromechanical system microfabricated prototype is presented that stores and dispenses liquid materials, using digitally activated burst pressure to release fluid within an array of microwells. Electrically addressable microheaters are used to thermally crack a plastic membrane above each well, releasing pressurised scented material. This low-cost, disposable device allows users to control the selection and release of a variety of stored fluids.
